Conservation laws in quantum noninvasive measurements

چکیده
Conservation principles are essential to describe and quantify dynamical processes in all areas of physics. Classically, a conservation law holds because the description reality can be considered independent an observation (measurement). In quantum mechanics, however, invasive observations change quantities drastically, irrespective any classical law. One may hope overcome this nonconservation by performing weak, almost noninvasive measurement. Interestingly, we find that is manifest even weakly measured correlations if some other observables do not commute with conserved quantity. Our show laws mechanics should their specific measurement context. We provide experimentally feasible examples observe apparent energy angular momentum.

Conservation laws, uncertainty relations, and quantum limits of measurements.
The uncertainty relation between the noise operator and the conserved quantity leads to a bound on the accuracy of general measurements. The bound extends the assertion by Wigner, Araki, and Yanase that conservation laws limit the accuracy of "repeatable," or "nondisturbing," measurements to general measurements, and improves the one previously obtained by Yanase for spin measurements. The boun...
متن کاملFirst-kind measurements, non-demolition measurements, and conservation laws
A general discussion is given for first-kind (FK) and quantum non-demolition (QND) measurements. The general conditions for these measurements are derived, including the most general one (called the weak condition), an intermediate one, and the strongest one. The weak condition indicates that we can realize a FK or QND measuring apparatus of wide classes of observables by allowing the apparatus...

In this Letter, we investigate a class of Hamiltonians which, in addition to the usual center-of-mass momentum conservation, also have center-of-mass position conservation. We find that, regardless of the particle statistics, the energy spectrum is at least q-fold degenerate when the filling factor is p/q, where and are coprime integers. Interestingly, the simplest Hamiltonian respecting this t...
متن کاملNonsymmetrized correlations in quantum noninvasive measurements.
A long-standing problem in quantum mesoscopic physics is which operator order corresponds to noise expressions like , where I(ω) is the measured current at frequency ω. Symmetrized order describes a classical measurement while nonsymmetrized order corresponds to a quantum detector, e.g., one sensitive to either emission or absorption of photons. We show that both order schemes can be...
متن کاملNon-Markovian quantum kinetics and conservation laws
A link between memory effects in quantum kinetic equations and nonequilibrium correlations associated with the energy conservation is investigated. In order that the energy be conserved by an approximate collision integral, the one-particle distribution function and the mean interaction energy are treated as independent nonequilibrium state parameters. The density operator method is used to der...
